From Rita Jamison, Creative Non-Fiction Teacher, Los Altos Adult Education, 2005

Mel, It's the most gripping story I've read in years--a masterpiece of its kind. Chapter 11 was one of my favorites, and in Chapter 31, when Peetie was having her baby, I discovered my eyes brimming with tears. What kind of wizard are you? Blessings! Rita P.S. Great figures of speech, too.
P.S. What a suspenseful movie it could be!

Epilogue

On a routine dog sled delivery of supplies to the men and women at AL-17, a most secret U.S. military outpost in the arctic wasteland of northern nowhere, the driver finds everyone dead. They are all in routine working postures, mummified and lifeless. There is no evidence of execution with any known means or weapon. To the crime lab officers who fly in to study the scene and remove the bodies, it recalls a recent bazaar mass suicide of birdwatchers in the Falkland Islands. There were no media reports in either case. It was all quashed.
